bITS 'N CHUNKS
Well, looks like it's about that time again -- holy shit has it really only been a month? Time flies when you're depressed. Quick, what would make you whip your coworker around in their chair and shove a phone in their face and say, "Look. LOOK. Look at the things." Why do we share? The feeling of exclusivity. Walk with me here. It's fun to feel part of a secret group, right? It's fun to go into a place and immediately hug everyone there and feel smug. Just admit it! It's way more fun to talk about events in retrospect than it is to actually talk about them while you're there. You're still making stories to tell while you're in the moment; the good shit happens after everyone leaves and stops asking you a bunch of questions. The good shit goes down when you get to say, "oh, you missed it." Oh you missed the last show? Brutal. Well, too bad you can't catch up now. (You really can on Powerbomb, but let's pretend that doesn't exist.) Well, here we go, NOW... Please check out the recap and results courtesy of SoBros Network. I was pretty hyped for this show for whatever reason. Mind you, I'm hyped about every Grap of SUP but there's levels of hype, reasons of dependency for hype. Am I hyped for the show? A little. Am I hyped to see people I haven't seen in a few months? Definitely. Am I hyped to go home and eat some gumbo? Certainly. Am I hyped to tell strangers on the street or in the office place what I've seen? Always. Those categories switch around, but for whatever reason in the middle of this year of our Dark Lords I've met more wrestling fan friends. Unfortunately, most of them are not indie people per se and I try my hardest but indie wrestling ain't for everyone. I've had success and non-successes. You don't have to take my word for anything because I'm happy being a stan. But this was a little... special. Eye dee kay, seems like the stars aligned not quite enough for Cthulhu to pop out but for something magic to happen. This day, it all started when my bus put me out in the cold and damp before an alley. Okay, sure, maybe I mistimed Google maps. Maybe that bus is the famed haunted bus, we'll never know. I was able to run into most if not all of the Bros that comprise the Southern Network and I felt like I had a gang. I don't need a gang unless I'm squeezing into last season's dress, but. It felt special. What a week full of anxiety. One of the last match announcements that got me (after I bought my ticket, mind) was Cajun Crawdad. Some things just make you pop. At some point I was high key Chikara stanning so I was very happy to be able to see that live. Seeing that promotion live is kind of tough just due to the way they do business and run shows. That was special. Well, from them on it's time to look in the basement that we were told not to look in. Oh ho, a pre-show? Joshua Bishop released from the confined of Slutty Kat? His birthday! Being slammed into a cupcake. Slutty Kat did make an appearance later which is awesome. Witnessing Marko Stunt not hold us all up for millions of dollars a piece because he deserves was also, well, special. Outside of Cajun Crawdad, my favorite parts of the night were the re-match between Mr Brickster & Teddy King and the main event of Dominic Garrini vs Wheeler Yuta. Brickster always delivers and this match is meme-tastic in the best ways. All I can say is Lego kendo stick. Legos or gummy bears instead of tacks is kind of a joke ploy and one of those things that is Fresh From the Indies, but legos are legitimately brutal and parts of this match looked so nasty. Speaking of nasty, I had a nasty hit to the ego myself. See, I live in the moment and I don't care what happens next. I just react to things. I thought to myself, man Yuta put up a good match against Dominic but Dominic scares me and I'm pretty sure we're going to end up burying him in a nice suit with that belt around his waist... until... "We Belong" blasted over the loud speakers and Marko ran to cash in his Pumpkin in the Bank. Oh fuck was all I had to say after that. This is why I don't make predictions and why I don't bet. I do, however, read tarot. It felt like a lot of heels won this show, didn't it? Am I supposed to be mad or happy next time? Was I supposed to ask out loud who STAB is? Oh, I didn't talk about all that and now you're confused? Too bad, you missed it. Please catch up and try not to miss it again.
